The Permit to Work (PTW) is the primary ’control ‘document covering all work activities in high risk environments. Specific hazardous operations will then have a second permit for activities such as confined space work or hot work. Here the secondary hot work permit minimises the risk of the specific hazardous activity while the controlling PTW minimises the risk of ‘Simultaneous Activities or Operations’ (SIMOPS).
