Course Overview

This face-to-face course provides students with the skills and knowledge to perform work safely in a confined space. Training includes selecting and inspecting equipment, risk management, identifying and applying legislative requirements, confined space permits and using an electronic gas tester. Students will also be able to record/report that the working atmosphere is safe before and during conducting work safely in a confined space.

2020 Course Dates

By the end of this course students will be able to:

  • Plan and prepare for entering and working in confined spaces

  • Assess a confined space for entry

  • Identify and correctly fit personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Complete compliance documentation such as a permit

  • Confirm the emergency response plan

  • Enter and work in a confined space

  • Work in accordance with an issued permit

  • Recognise and assess conditions that require testing

  • Select, prepare and use gas testing equipment

  • Test the atmosphere for gasses

  • Read, interpret and record readings from a gas test monitor

  • Maintain gas testing equipment

  • Exit a confined space safely.
